guys….

It is that time of year people. Valentine’s day….. or as I love to call it single awareness day. All day I have been reminded that I am single and have been all of my lovely life. I truly do not need that to be put in my face for an entire day. Okay.

So I am going to get my lovely Gigi’s cupcakes that I have sitting in more room and treat myself to one and then….  I don’t know….. read a book or something that I do not need a man around to do. But I am going to dinner with my roommate and Boyfriend (which I am totally excited about but I mean it is valentine’s day I was ready to be alone unless they came back to the room) which will be fun because they are amazing people that I love being with!!

HAPPY VALENTINE”S DAY!

One Hundred 15: Caftan or Kaftan

This piece actually has a bit of exotic history to it.  Kaftan’s originated from the 14th century (that was a while ago) in the mid-to-far Eastern countries where it was a staple piece because of the hott weather.  It then soon made its way across the ocean in the 60s and 70s when the Western part of the US loved everything Eastern and soon ventured into main stream fashion. The first person to put it on the runway was Yves Saint Laurent, who fell in love with Marrakech, Morocco.  Soon the Caftan became the staple look of the now know as “boho chic”.

Even if you are not “boho Chic” or that isn’t your style you can still wear a caftan.  These are the perfect lazy comfy relaxing outfits.  The are great for going on a plane, walking along the beach (great bathing suit cover ups!). With the material so light weight and carefree it will be bearable to wear in those hott summer months (even in Alabama).

Those are a few of the high end ones you can find but truly if you ask me (And Nina) if you are going to get something that originates from the East then you should get an authentic one don’t you think? I mean if I am about to go buy something I want it to be the real…. plus who wants to spend high end prices, c’mon.

Now to styling a caftan. Caftans were like made for my jewelry! Oh My Goodness!

Here is the Princess of Morocco sporting a beautiful Caftan! See all you have to do is let the caftan wear itself. Simple jewelry and simple sandals and you have the perfect summer beach outfit! See here are the ones I would pick a more summer pattern caftan made out of silk and is very light and comfy. Perfect!!!!!!!!! Then I would wear amazingly comfortable neutral tan brown sandals (not flip flops unless I was going to the beach).  Then I would totally wear one of my multi-strand necklaces! PERFECT! and simple earrings and anything else has to be simple and understated.

But you can also dress up a caftan for those summer parties or the nights you go out with the BF! So all you do is take that amazing caftan that looks good on you because of the cute and color and then you go with more of a metallic sandal or high heel (if your feeling dangerous). Then go with the more fancy simple classic jewelry!

OMG! If you go out to walk on the beach wearing the caftan you most wear a sun hat and great sun glasses! And take pictures!

If you still need some inspirations to wear these amazing dresses: Muriel Brandolini, Allegra Hicks, and Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche.
